Calling all Facebook Fans!
Want to help the Arts Council win $25,000?
Chase Community Giving is letting Facebook users vote for their favorite non-profits. The 100 charities getting the most votes by December 11th will reach receive $25,000. Additionally, those charities with the most votes in the first round will be eligible for a $1 million grant that will also be determined by Facebook votes starting on Jan. 15. While there are a lot of dumb polls and voting on Facebook this is one thing you can do that would be a huge help towards our fundraising for the Schack Art Center.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Login to your Facebook account.
- Become a fan of Chase Community Giving
- Search for the Arts Council of Snohomish County
- And then VOTE FOR US!
And if you’re not already become a fan of the Arts Council!

If you happened to be near Hoyt Avenue this morning you probably saw pieces of the construction crane for the Artspace/Arts Council project coming down. But this isn’t something to be sad about, because construction is moving right along. So goodbye big red crane, thanks for the memories.
I'm not sure I could do this job...

Last week the kind Marpac crew invited us over for a “Safety BBQ”, which also provided the opportunity to take a tour inside the center.

That’s right, soon we will be…(drum roll please) Schack Art Center. This name was choosen as a way to honor John and Idamae Schack and their dedication to the arts and cultural life in Everett for many years.

“It’s look like a gymnasium!”
At least that’s what Cathryn Vandenbrink from Artspace said last week when she was visiting the project site. Apparently, the outline of our new Visual Arts Education Center looks very large when you’re standing in the middle of the 20ft tall open space. Unfortunately, we (Arts Council staff) did not get see this first hand, but I did take some new construction photos from the sidewalk.
As you can see Marpac is done with the concrete and has moved onto wood framing for the residential portion of the building.
