Our fall exhibit, the Song of the Siren, opened yesterday and I haven’t quite figured out who is the siren and what she is singing about. Maybe it is this sea-lady (below) by Tim Lord?
I’ve asked around, but these guys don’t seem to know much.
As you’ve probably guessed by now this exhibit features water-themed art including subjects such as mermaids, fish, boats, shells, waterscapes and much more. And, unlike the Sirens of Greek mythology these enchanting works are not dangerous. (Unless of course you are an art lover prone to impulse purchases, in which case please, please come see our new exhibit!)
By the way…If you thought you missed the opening reception don’t worry it isn’t till next Thursday, Sept. 11th from 5-8pm at the Monte Cristo. Hope to see you there!

It finally feels like summer outside, but inside we have a colorful “garden” ready to bloom. The “Art of the Garden” exhibit is back and judging by some of the creations in our lobby you’re sure to enjoy it even if you don’t have a green thumb. The exhibit opens this Thursday July 10th with a reception from 5-8pm and lasts through August 21st.
Here is a link to an article by Theresa Goffredo about this exhibit: http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20080704/ENT/497872659
And below is a sampling of some of the artwork in the exhibit….Enjoy!
