Most of the glass floats for next Saturday’s Fresh Paint Float Find arrived this week. Bob Mitchell dropped off an assortment of colorful “beach balls”. Here is a sneak peak…

Beautiful!

That blue one looks like an old japanese sea float.
To get your own Fresh Paint float you’ll have to get there early. Ferries start running at 10am on Saturday and it is first come, first serve, but PLEASE REMEMBER ONLY ONE FLOAT PER PERSON. We know how pretty they are, but let’s make sure as many people as possible get a chance. Alright?
This year you’ll also be able to register your float on the island. Each float is numbered, so be sure to see if your number is a winner. Two lucky float finders will win a JUMBO float.
And, when you’re all done on the beach be sure to check out Fresh Paint over at the marina. We have 100 artists in action, glassblowing, art cars, and a Scuttlebutt’s Beer Garden. Visit www.freshpaintfestival.com for more info! See you there.

Need help navigating Zapplication for your Fresh Paint application or other festival?
Like many things, the Fresh Paint festival went online last year for it’s artist applications, using the system known as ZAPP. On April 22nd, from 6-8pm at Cascade High School Room 433 in Everett we’re holding a workshop for artists who would like some assistance navigating this application format.
Maren Oates, event coordinator with the Arts Council, and Jules Anslow, tech. savvy artist, will help you set up your account, format images, and/or complete your application. Please come prepared with electronic images of your work. Space is limited, so please RSVP to Maren Oates at moates@artscouncilofsnoco.org if you are interested in attending or if you have any questions.
Information about Fresh Paint is available at www.freshpaintfestival.com. Deadline for artist applications is May 1st.

His festival image will be unveiled in May 2009, but for now you can check out his work at Bherd Studios in Greenwood. Or if you are interested in seeing him in action check out this video of the 23rd & Dearborn street mural being created.
Each year the Fresh Paint Festival commissions an artist to create an original piece of artwork that represents the festival. Next year’s call to artists will be available in Fall 2009. If you are interested in participating in the festival, applications are due May 1st.
