Congrats to the 4 students from Snohomish County have received a prestigious National Award for their outstanding artwork through The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the 86 year-old national program that recognizes outstanding creative teenagers and offers scholarship opportunities for graduating high school seniors.
This year’s Award recipients from Snohomish County are:

Congratulations! Scholastic Award Recipients February 6, 2009

The Arts Council of Snohomish County is proud to present The Scholastic Art Awards of 2009. This program gives thousands of students throughout America the opportunity to broaden their creative horizons while earning local and national recognition. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards were founded in 1923, and have become the nation’s largest and longest running program of its kind.
The Arts Council of Snohomish County is a regional affliate for this program, which this year received more than 450 entries from 7-12th grade students across Snohomish County.
A complete list of award recipients is available on our website, as well as images of the American Vision and Gold Key winners.
Public recognition will be given at The Scholastic Art Awards Ceremony, which is being held at the New Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2009. The public is invited to attend The Scholastic Art Awards Exhibit opening reception just one block away at the Historic Monte Cristo, located at 1507 Wall Street, from 5-9:00 p.m. the same evening.
Additional exhibit hours will be:
Monday, February 16, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.;
Tuesday, February 17, 10 a.m-9 p.m.;
Wednesday-Thursday, February 18-19, 10 a.m-8 p.m.;
Friday, February 20, 10 a.m-5 p.m.;
Saturday-Sunday, February 21-22, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; and
Monday, February 23, 10 a.m-5 p.m.
After the exhibit, American Vision Best of Show and Gold Key artwork will be sent in digital form to New York for the National Scholastic Art Awards program.
